Mail Call

Our New Hampshire trip was a success and we were (thankfully) not snowed out of our apartment over the weekend. It ended up snowing all weekend in New Hampshire but it was wonderful! We had a blast snowshoeing around the area. My hips started to hurt pretty early on so we weren't able to do as much as we wanted. Boo to hips.

So much mail! I had to split it into postcards and letters received. I received quite a few entries for the puzzle giveaway. A lot more than I expected! Don't wait if you want to enter :)

I received a lovely collaged envelope from Sofie. It is on the very right in the bottom photo. Didn't she do a great job with her first collaged envelope? I am impressed and happy to have received it!

I also received the letter from my partner for the League of Extraordinary Penpals swap.

Remember how I said 2013 is the year for mail? I received a postcard from another mail friend that I haven't heard from in over a year! Seriously, what is in the water guys? Not that I am complaining :)

I will be posting my outgoing LetterMo pictures soon. I'm still crazy tired from the New Hampshire trip. Almost fell asleep at work today!

  1. I am so glad it reached you! And it looks like it's actually in one piece. That's everything I could ask for :)
...I didn't ask for that barcode thingy though to be honest. It is a barcode thingy, right? But I guess I can let the post people contribute to the collage as well :)

    1. Thank you so much! Sorry, I completely spaced on taking the barcode sticker off. The USPS puts those on mail occasionally. To be honest, I'm not sure why! haha. I will be sending you something soon :) :)

  2. I was 100% sure I posted a reply here, but I can't see it :S

I blame the post workers for not acknowledging my fantastic art, not you for not taking the barcode off ;P Maybe the barcode hide some cool secret? Like... That they put them on their favourite envelopes? Or maybe you can bring it to your local post office to get free stamps? That would be awesome. And also very likely.

It would be awesome to get a reply, but you don't have to write back if you're a busy bee. I just wanted to send my little letter as a token of appreciation of you inspiring me to try making some mailart.

I have decorated a few more envelopes, but I find my glue stick lacking. What brand or kind do you use? Maybe I could order it somewhere online with some luck.

    1. I see your first comment, pinky swear it is there :)

I wish the USPS did something cool with the barcodes like that! I would definitely take my time to trade in barcodes for postage stamps! Haha.

Of course I will send a reply :) No mail goes unanswered by this pterodactyl!

To be honest, I just use Elmer's glue sticks (usually the purple ones, because they are purple). They are pretty much children's glue sticks and they work well enough. Not amazing but I make sure to tape down anything that I think may fall off in transit. Out of all the glue sticks I have used, I haven't found any to be that great.

  3. What? It is kind of weird that I can't see my own comment. I must have fallen from the internet gods' grace..

My very ordinary glue stick has problems with keeping shiny paper on its place. It looks good at first, but when the glue dries the paper decides to stop sticking to the other paper. Does this explanation even make any sense? Is it... glossy paper I mean? Shiny.. glossy. uhm.. sleek? GAH I should have paid more attention in English class 10 years ago.
Anyway, I mean that kind of paper you find in fashion magazines, not in news papers. The glue stick seems to have no power over THAT KIND of paper. Do you have the same problem?

    1. Shiny paper is the devil! I've never had any luck trying to get it to stick to ANYTHING. Blug! I know exactly what you mean. I'm sure there is a glue stick out there that would work but I don't use it! Haha. I will have to ask around and hopefully find the answer to our shiny paper problems.

  4. Thank you for understanding my poor English and for sympathising with my paper+glue situation! I will now confidently start blaming the shiny paper instead of my glue stick! :) If you some day find a magic glue that dares to challenge the Shiny Problem I'd be happy to rejoice with you!

(I have turned the shiny paper problem into a fantasy creature, hence the name Shiny Problem. Maybe it should have a title too? Provost S. Problem? Yes, my mind works in mysterious ways. Especially when tired.)
