I am officially in love with the security envelopes Becky sent me. They make the perfect border for my stationery and I love putting light colors underneath to make the brownish purple of the pattern pop out.
I think I am back in the swing of things now that I am writing to my pen pals again. It felt nice to actually be responding to someone! There are a lot more things to write about when it isn't so one-sided.
I didn't realize until late last night that there would be no mail today. Yikes! I will have 3 postcards and 4 letters to send out tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteAfter checking out this blog I just had to try to make my first ever piece of mailart! The mentioned mailart is mildly impressive, but I had fun making it, and that's what counts, right? ;)
I don't seem to be able to cut the paper straight along the envelope edges even if my life depended on it. Do you have some secret trick you can share with me?

DeleteI'm excited that you made your first piece of mail art! Even better that it was fun. It just keeps getting better, trust me.
The easiest way I find to cut the paper straight on the envelope is kind of lining of the bottom half of the scissors with the edge of the envelope. I cut in very small snips, too! Practice makes perfect! It also helps when you have a lot of excess paper to cut off. Don't be afraid to cut into the envelope, you can always tape the edges back together :)

ReplyDeleteAs far as cutting a straight line, you could try a fiskars cutting board with a razor. I LOVE mine!!!!

Thank you for for your advice! I would LOVE to own a cutting board, but my budget is at a low point at the moment, so I will practice my scissors skill until I either master it or can afford something handier ;)
