Outgoing Inspiration

For a long time last year I was not too big on decorating the inside of my envelopes. I wrote letters on plain stationery, maybe sometimes my words would grace the page of a decorated store-bought stationery set but they did not touch collaged, rubber-stamped or doodled papers. Aside from the letter, the envelope was bare. No paper bits, mix cds, random lists or recommendations lined the inside. To be honest, I have to be pretty inspired to decorate something other than the outside of the envelope. That part is easy - a small canvas to showcase my "art". Writing paper is much more intimidating! Then I get started, pasting bits down, using rubber stamps and paper punches and it just feels natural. Just starting it is the hard part.

I wrote this letter to Andie, a wonderful lady in Canada. I first sent her a postcard through Postcrossing and she was nice enough to send me a beautifully decorated "thank you" postcard in return. Since sending this letter, Andie has sent me two amazing packages. Packages with nailpolish, pterodactyls, candy and paper bits tucked inside. Packages that remind me to send an envelope bursting at the seams because there isn't anything better than receiving one.

Here is to a new year full of lovely mail!

  2. Sorry to hear that, Becky! I get in slumps far too often but haven't found a way to get out of them! I just have to tell myself "stop thinking, do it and you will be happy" and it usually works. I've been in quite the slump since I moved but I started collaging envelopes tonight so hopefully I will write some letters this weekend. :)
